The city of Chittorgarh, located in the west of the state of Rajasthan,ย is most famous for the magnificent fort of the same name. Chittorgarh Fort is the largest fort complex in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and spans over 700 acres. Within the fort are almost twenty temples, six palaces, memorials, and two victory towers. The fort dates back to the 7th century, with major additions built in the 15th century by rulers such as Rana Kumbha.
Whilst in Chittogarh, donโt miss the Meera Temple, dedicated to Meera Bai. She was a Rajput princess and a devout follower of Lord Krishna. She famously gave up her royal lifestyle to become a saint and poet, dedicating her life to worshipping Lord Krishna.
